Parkour, or freerunning, is an athletic practice based on developing the innate movement potential in all of us, encouraging people to use their bodies for what they are designed for: to explore our environment and adapt to the terrain around us for health, fitness and fun.
Parkour focuses on developing true physical literacy, which includes balance, strength, power, endurance, coordination, agility and more. It is a way of training the body and mind through problem-solving, exploration, challenge and adaptation in order to be as functional and effective as possible.
But more than this, parkour is a way of thinking based on self-discipline, autonomous action, self-will and self-efficacy, and is an ideal practice for all ages and abilities to learn about themselves and overcome personal limitations.
